De Magellan Explorer is een nieuw en modern expeditieschip, speciaal gebouwd voor Antarctische ‘air-cruises’. Tijdens deze expedities vlieg je over de Drake Passage naar Antarctica, waar je aan boord gaat van je expeditieschip. De kleine omvang van het schip maakt je ervaring heel persoonlijk en biedt een grote operationele flexibiliteit.

Voor deze Antarctische aircruises heeft de Magellan Explorer capaciteit voor 76 passagiers, ondergebracht in zeven categorieën hutten, waaronder een aantal speciale eenpersoonshutten. Alle hutten, behalve die met een patrijspoort, hebben een eigen balkon. De meeste tweepersoonshutten hebben twee aparte bedden die als een tweepersoonsbed kunnen worden samengevoegd. Je vindt er ook een kledingkast, individueel regelbare verwarming, een zithoek en een eigen badkamer met douche. Het schip beschikt over een met glas afgesloten observatielounge en presentatieruimte, een ruim en stijlvol restaurant, een goed gevulde bar, een bibliotheek, een vergaderruimte, een fitnessruimte, een sauna en een medische kliniek. Het naar voren gerichte observatiedek leidt naar de boeg van het schip, de beste plek om wilde dieren te spotten. De Magellan Explorer heeft een vloot van 10 zodiacs waarmee je langs de kust kunt varen.

De observatielounge met veel glas doet ook dienst als presentatieruimte, met ultramoderne audiovisuele apparatuur zodat je kunt genieten van lezingen en workshops door het expeditieteam. Er zijn genoeg zitmogelijkheden, van comfortabele banken tot tafels met stoelen.
De lounge beschikt ook over een bar en heeft directe toegang tot het observatiedek aan de voorkant van het schip.
