Ultramarine

Ultra-immersive polar experiences

Expedition ship Ultramarine was built to go beyond the familiar, by offering a combination of unique itineraries, new adventure activities and high-end luxury. Ultramarine combines cutting-edge technologies and advanced sustainability features, exceeding all industry standards. The entire ship has been meticulously designed to offer you the most comfortable polar experience.

The Waterproof Expeditions team had chance to visit Ultramarine while it was docked in Amsterdam in between the Arctic and Antarctic seasons. While exploring the ship, we noticed every little detail has been optimised to offer guests the best experience. Starting with an impressive choice of accommodation, from single cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows to large terrace suites. We found the interiors modern yet very welcoming, with warm colors and soft fabrics. Another great luxury feature is the onboard wellness area, with large panoramic sauna, well-equiped gym, steam room and lounge beds allowing you to relax and unwind.

What truly distinguishes Ultramarine from most other vessels is the extensive helicopter program. These fuel-efficient helicopters have only a small external footprint and reduced noise pollution to avoid disturbing wildlife. They are able to take guests further over the polar landscape than any other helicopter in its category.

A very convenient feature, that might be overlooked easily, are the mud rooms. Simply store your outdoor clothing in your locker and don’t worry about getting wet gear in your cabin. The mud rooms are located next to the zodiac boarding area on deck 2. Zodiac embarkation is at water-level which makes for quick deployment.
