Ship
Ocean Albatros
Luxury ship with excellent stability
Ocean Albatros is a new state-of-the-art ship, designed for expedition cruising. On board, you will sense the exciting expedition atmosphere and at same time enjoy the extra comfort that one might look for whilst on a voyage in the polar regions.
Ocean Albatros has many facilities that add that little extra to the experience. In between landings and excursions, you can warm up in the panoramic sauna or hop in one of the jacuzzies on the pool deck. Those looking for a culinary experience will not be disappointed in the two onboard restaurants. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style. In the evenings you have a choice between A la Carte dining in the main restaurant, or grilled dishes, served in the specialty restaurant on deck 8.
The outside decks provide great opportunities for wildlife watching, with glass railings offering almost completely unobstructed views. When there is something special in sight, the hydraulic platforms on deck 5 can be opened. These allow for near water-level viewing, bringing you as close to nature as possible while being on the ship.
A less visible, yet very important element of comfort, is the stability of the Ocean Albatros. Due to her sturdy construction, ice class 1A rating and special X-bow design, Ocean Albatros allows for smooth sailing even in rough seas and areas with sea ice. Additionally, its’ 50% lower carbon footprint than traditional expedition ships, makes Ocean Albatros one of the most environmentally friendly vessels sailing in the polar regions today.
Waterproof Expeditions’ Anu (Sales & Reservations) has travelled on board Ocean Albatros in Svalbard an had the opportunity to join an extensive voyage to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. She knows the ship inside and out, and is happy to share her experiences with you.

Why we love Ocean Albatros
- Panoramic sauna
- Hydraulic observation platforms
- Very stable
- Adventurous atmosphere
- Zodiac platforms for smooth boarding
