"We want you to visit this mysterious and inspiring world. We want you to fall in love with it and respect it. Just like us."

Göran Ehlmé

Göran Ehlmé (Sweden) was the first to lead diving expeditions to the polar regions. Being the co-founder and Head of R&D at Waterproof Diving International in Sweden, he designs drysuits with the experiences from his filming work in the polar regions in mind.

As co-founder of Waterproof Expeditions, Göran loves to share his under water experiences and wildlife encounters with travellers around the world. His purpose and mission, is to enable you to experience the amazing underwater world that covers more than seventy percent of our planet; our oceans.

Underwater Cameraman

Over the years, Göran has had many spectacular wildlife encounters. He travelled to the far corners of our planet as an underwater cameraman for BBC and National Geographic. Some of his most unique camera work took place together with his friend Paul Nicklen. They were able to capture leopard seals, emperor penguins and orcas under water. In 2006, Göran won the prestigious ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ award for his photo of a foraging walrus in Greenland. Some other marine animals he has been fortunate to film are beluga and narwhal in the Arctic, and in Antarctica he filmed whales, seals and penguins under water.

Göran Ehlmé: “The knowledge we pass on to you is only from days and hours of hands-on experience. While there is still so much to learn about our oceans, I truly feel it is the most fascinating part of our planet.”

In 1985, Göran was one of the first people to attempt swimming with orcas in Norway. After many carefull encounters he perfected the logistics and techniques involved in order to get close to them. Görans footage of the orcas in Norway has been used in numerous series and documentaries over the past decades.
