Szymon Niezabitowski
Waterproof Guide
Szymon is geboren in Krakau, Polen, waar hij biologie en geografie studeerde en een graad behaalde in “Facility of Biology and Earth Sciences”. Na zijn studie werkte hij voor het Instituut voor Systematiek en Evolutie van Dieren, waar hij gids en verzorger was van exotische dieren zoals pinchéaapjes, varanen, slangen en vogelspinnen.
Vanaf zijn vroegste jeugd is hij een gepassioneerd natuurliefhebber en bergbeklimmer met een speciale interesse in de geografie en de dierenwereld van de hogere breedtegraden. In 2017 en de zomer van 2018 vervulde Szymon zijn grootste droom en werd hij poolgids en bracht hij bijna een half jaar door op Spitsbergen, waar hij de echte wildernis van het Arctische gebied kon bewonderen. Dit was het begin van zijn carrière als expeditiegids aan boord van schepen in zowel het Noordpoolgebied als Antarctica.
Szymon is nu al enkele jaren gids en expeditieleider bij Waterproof Expeditions. Hij brengt de wintermaanden door aan boord samen met onze gids Rinie van Meurs in Noord-Noorwegen tijdens onze walvisexpedities in de winter en gaat in de zomer mee op onze speciale Arctische reizen.
