Pierre Gallego
Waterproof Guide
Pierre was born and raised in Luxembourg from Spanish parents, making him fluent in 5 languages, including French, English, Spanish, German and Luxembourgish. He is a veterinarian and highly experienced marine biologist specialising in whales and dolphins. Pierre has been working in the field of marine biology for over 24 years, and has been organising marine mammal research internships around the world since 2004. He researched killer whales in the Strait of Gibraltar and humpback whales off Ecuador and Mozambique.
Pierre represents the Government of Luxembourg at the International Whaling Commission and at the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources. He also works with international NGO’s to promote marine mammal conservation and to fight cetacean captivity.
In addition to his work as a marine biologist and expedition guide, Pierre is a keen scuba diver, birdwatcher, photographer and open water swimmer. His love for the ocean even led him to swim across the Strait of Gibraltar and the Maui Channel! The ocean is his passion, and water is his element. We are happy to welcome Pierre on board as an expedition guide during our Winter Whales of Norway expeditions.
