MV Polar Pioneer

MV Polar Pioneer is one of our favorite expedition vessels. After an extensive refurbishment she is now sailing the Arctic and Antarctica again. Those that have travelled on Polar Pioneer before will recognize this amazing expedition ship, but at the same time notice a higher standard during their expedition.

What makes MV Polar Pioneer so special is her small size, a huge advantage compared to other expedition ships. Usually only 50 guests will be on board during expedition cruises. This makes Polar Pioneer the smallest expedition vessel sailing in Antarctica. There is enough space for all guests in the zodiacs at once, minimizing waiting times to go ashore. The ship is capable of accessing places restricted to larger vessels, but still big enough to make you feel comfortable during the voyage. Carrying the highest ice class, 1A Super, she has no problem venturing into ice of our polar regions.
This combination of small size and a strong hull will take you almost anywhere, offering the most amazing adventures. It's the perfect expedition vessel for wildlife viewing and photography. The spacious observation decks provide sufficient space to watch for wildlife or follow the ship’s progress. Inside, you can enjoy the nicely refurbished lounge, bar and sauna, or spend some time on the bridge for a chat with the captain while whale watching.

MV Polar Pioneer has room for up to 53 passengers in 26 refurbished cabins, and operates a fleet of 6 zodiacs. Onboard you will find one triple and 10 twin cabins with shared facilities. There are also 12 twin cabins and 3 larger suites with private facilities. All cabins have portholes or windows and ample storage space for your outdoor gear.

"The best trip of my life! The ship felt as my home away from home."

- Merill D. (USA)

All cabins have been refreshed with functional Scandinavian style in mind and a special attention to small details like extra hooks and ample storage space.
