Classic Antarctica Cruise
Prepare to be dazzled by the beautiful scenery and the abundance of wildlife of the Antarctic Peninsula. The White Continent creates life lasting memories.
An ice-strengthened vessel ideal for polar expedition cruises in the Arctic and Antarctica with an educational and exploratory travel programme, spending as much time ashore as possible.
MV Plancius
MV Plancius was built in 1976 as an oceanographic research vessel for the Royal Dutch Navy and was named Hr. Ms. Tydeman. The ship sailed for the Dutch Navy until June 2004. The vessel was completely rebuilt as an expedition cruise ship in 2009 and complies with the latest SOLAS-regulations (Safety Of Life At Sea). MV Plancius is classed by Lloyd’s Register in London and flies the Dutch flag. MV Plancius accommodates 108 passengers in 52 passenger cabins with private toilet and shower.
The vessel offers a restaurant/lecture room and a spacious observation lounge (with bar) with large windows, offering full panorama view. MV Plancius has large open deck spaces, giving excellent opportunities to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. The ship is a comfortable expedition style vessel. The voyages on board MV Plancius, both in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, are primarily defined by an exploratory educational travel programme, spending as much time ashore as possible. This vessel is perfectly equiped to meet these demands. MV Plancius is ice-strengthened and was specially built for oceanographic voyages.
