Poolduiken
Een bijzondere onderdompeling in een bevroren onderwaterwereld
Het team van Waterproof Expeditions heeft meer dan 15 jaar ervaring met poolduiken. Poolduiken is geen activiteit voor bangeriken, het is een avontuur dat de grenzen van het menselijk uithoudingsvermogen en passie opzoekt.
De poolgebieden worden vaak voorgesteld als onherbergzaam, ongerept en onontdekt. Maar onder de golven ligt een wereld vol leven en ongekende schoonheid. Als duikers afdalen in het ijskoude water, worden ze begroet door een uniek marien ecosysteem dat goed gedijt in de kou. Een delicate bevroren wereld die slechts weinigen ooit te zien zullen krijgen.
Voorbereiding op poolduiken
Poolduiken is niet geschikt voor beginners. Hoewel poolduiken niet als “technisch” duiken wordt beschouwd, vereisen de omstandigheden en uitrusting die nodig zijn om veilig te duiken wel ervaring en training. Het vereist een uitgebreide hoeveelheid extra uitrusting voor het koude weer en water, en een hoger niveau van duikervaring vanwege de afgelegen locatie.
- Je moet een ervaren koudwaterduiker zijn met ten minste 30 geaccrediteerde duiken in een droogpak.
- Je moet een internationaal geaccepteerd duikbrevet, duikerslogboek en een gezondheidsverklaring van je arts laten zien.
- Je maakt eerst een checkduik om er zeker van te zijn dat je uitrusting goed is ingesteld en zodat onze dive master je deelname kan goedkeuren.
- Als onze dive master vindt dat je niet aan de eisen voldoet, kan hij een duiker uitsluiten van het programma om ieders veiligheid te garanderen.
- Alle deelnemers duiken op eigen risico.
Poolduiken zijn mogelijk aan beide uiteinden van de planeet, maar de Arctische en Antarctische gebieden bieden totaal verschillende ervaringen onder water. Voor meer gedetailleerde informatie en vragen over onze expedities of poolduiken geven we je graag persoonlijk advies.
